Dr. Courtney Lavigne is the founder of Anchor Orthodontics and Rhode Island's only board-certified orthodontist who is also an Accredited Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AAACD), a distinction held by fewer than 1% of dentists worldwide. That combination means every treatment plan considers not just how teeth move, but how they look, function, and last for decades.
With over 15 years of experience in dentistry and an orthodontic residency at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Lavigne has built a reputation for taking on cases that others refer out, including complex bite corrections, pre-restorative orthodontics to create space for implants and crowns, and airway-focused orthodontics for both children and adults.
A True Orthodontic Specialist. Not every provider who offers braces or aligners is an orthodontist. Dr. Lavigne completed a full orthodontic residency and is board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, which means years of specialty training beyond dental school. Anchor Orthodontics is also an independent, doctor-owned practice, not part of a corporate dental group, so the orthodontist who plans your child's care is the one who sees it through.
Airway and Sleep-Focused Care. Dr. Lavigne has extensive advanced training in airway health, breathing disorders, and craniofacial growth and development. She works collaboratively with pediatricians, ENTs, sleep physicians, speech pathologists, and myofunctional therapists to provide truly integrated care, particularly for children showing early signs of sleep-disordered breathing or mouth breathing. Her approach treats the whole patient, not just the teeth.
Early Intervention. One of Dr. Lavigne's greatest passions is catching problems early. By guiding jaw growth and airway development before all adult teeth erupt, she is able to reduce treatment complexity, shorten overall treatment time, and set children up for a lifetime of better breathing and dental health.
A Lecturer and Educator. Dr. Lavigne is recognized as a leader in her field beyond Rhode Island. She lectures nationally and internationally to dentists and orthodontists on esthetics, function, sleep, and breathing disorders, and she has completed many times the continuing education required for licensure.

Credentials
A Rhode Island native, Dr. Lavigne is proud to bring this level of care back to the community where she grew up. Outside the office, she can usually be found on the water or the slopes, skiing with her husband Chris, their children Yvette and Leo, and their miniature labradoodle Lenny.

Dr. Lavigne is a board-certified orthodontist with a background in esthetic dentistry, creating beautiful smiles for even the most complex cases. She has extensive training in airway & breathing health and growth & development, and a passion for early intervention to help children who show signs of sleep or breathing disorders, working closely with pediatricians, sleep physicians, ENTs, speech pathologists, and myofunctional therapists to aid in improved overall health. Originally from Rhode Island, she attended LaSalle Academy before completing her undergraduate studies at Creighton University and her doctorate of dental medicine at the University of Connecticut. Motivated by her own orthodontic journey, she returned to a residency at Tufts University in Boston. Today, she lectures both nationally and internationally on esthetics, function, sleep, and breathing disorders as they relate to dentistry. Outside of orthodontics, Dr. Lavigne loves to water and snow ski with her husband Chris and their kids Yvette and Leo, and spend time with their miniature labradoodle Lenny.
